Case 1: Colonoscopy Findings

Take a look at the colonoscopy

Findings are described as continuous erythema with friability, loss of vascular pattern and superficial erosions extending from the rectum to the splenic flexure. The remainder of the colon appeared normal. No polyps, masses, angioectasias or hemorrhoids were noted. Terminal ileum appeared normal. Random biopsies were taken from the right and left colon, as well as from the rectum.

Based on the colonoscopy findings a presumptive diagnosis of L sided ulcerative colitis is made. How would you grade the severity per the Mayo endoscopic system of scoring?
